The Microarray team at the EBI is looking for a Curator/Data Modeller to work with the ArrayExpress database team on an NHGRI funded project to develop international microarray data standards. The ArrayExpress database is a standards based archival international repository for Microarray data which implements community standards (MIAME and MAGE). The Curator /Data Modeller will work with an international consortium and a local team of developers and curators who develop tools and standards and manage & curate microarray data submissions to ArrayExpress. The post holder will receive training in MAGE-OM, MAGE2 and will work as part of dynamic team of software engineers and biologists. Some international travel will be required.
REQUIREMENTS:
The successful candidate will have a first degree in Biological Sciences or Bioinformatics and a good understanding of current microarray experimental processes. Additionally, a masterĂ¢??s degree in Bioinformatics, Information Systems, Computer Science or demonstrably relevant programming experience in Perl and/or Java is required for this post. Experience with UML and XML would be advantageous. Research experience with microarrays or microarray data analysis would be extremely useful. Good communication and interpersonal skills are also required.TERMS
An initial contract of 18 months will be offered to the successful candidate. This can be renewed, depending on circumstances at the time of review.
