    BACKGROUND:
    BD Technologies (BDT) has an opportunity for a bioinformatician/statistician to consult with scientists and develop new analytical approaches for the use of proteomics data in life sciences research using R and Bioconductor.

    The successful candidate will have a range of interesting and challenging opportunities for significant collaborations with scientists and engineers along with opportunities for research, publication, career advancement, and professional development. This position will be part of a well-established, ten person bioinformatics group with skills ranging across statistics, classical bioinformatics, computer science, and software engineering.

    RESPONSIBILITIES:
    The successful candidate will bring together academic training in bioinformatics and statistics to develop statistical methods for the analysis of mass spec (MS) and flow cytometry (FACS) data. He/she will design and analyze experiments that have proteomics data as their outcome and consult with internal scientists and academic collaborators on interpreting the results. The successful candidate will also have the opportunity to work with novel applications of gene expression data. In addition to excellent academic training, a passion for consulting, fluency in English, and excellent interpersonal skills are important to success. A record of presentations, publications, and consulting experience, particularly in industry, is highly desirable.

    REQUIREMENTS:
    Strong computing skills are essential with primary focus on the use of R and Bioconductor. Graduate level training in statistics is required. The ideal candidate will have a Ph.D. in Statistics, Bioinformatics or a closely related field with 0-5 years experience.

    PREFERENCES:
    Experience creating packages in R.
