BACKGROUND

SGX Pharmaceuticals is a biotechnology company focused on the discovery and development of innovative cancer therapeutics. We have an exciting opportunity for a Bioinformatics & LIMS Web Developer.

RESPONSIBILITIES

The LIMS Web Developer will be responsible for creating and updating interfaces to the SGX LIMS (Laboratory Information Management System) and intranet, as well as assisting with help requests. The developer will be expected to work both independently with end users and in collaboration with senior programmers on both design and implementation. In addition, there are opportunities to assist with our structural genomics efforts in target & domain analysis and construct design for a candidate with suitable bioinformatics experience.

REQUIREMENTS

The candidate must have a B.S. in Computer Science or closely related discipline and 2+ years experience as a web developer. Preference will be given to candidates with a dual degree in the biological sciences or working experience in bioinformatics, computational, molecular, or structural biology or the field of structural genomics. The candidate must have experience with HTML, PHP, SQL and be familiar with Unix (e.g., Linux, Solaris) and Apache web server. Knowledge of Oracle PL/SQL, JavaScript, Perl/CGI and a familiarity with web-based design and implementation is highly desired. Must be excellent at problem-solving and have good communication skills.
