The Bioinformatics Centre at Birla Institute of Scientific Research, Jaipur is organizing a three-day workshop-cum-training program on "Computational Genomics" from 6-8 September 2006.
BISR is known for providing a high quality training in advance area of Biotechnology and Bioinformatics. The objective of present workshop is to provide participants with an insight into the current approaches and strategies that are being used for exploiting genome. The training is intended to cover all major concerns of genomics and its application though guided training.
The topics to be address during workshop include: Introduction to Bioinformatics, Basics of Genome organization, Genomics resources in Bioinformatics, Database searching techniques, Strategies of genome sequencing, Genome assembly and annotation, Gene Identification methods, Functional Genomics, Genome analysis, Comparative Genomics, Genomics application in Drug Discovery. The mode of training would be lecture and demonstration followed by Hands-on session in computer lab. Besides BISR faculty, eminent guests Scientist are also invited from renowned institutes of India for delivering lectures on advance concepts.
