    DESCRIPTION

    We are looking for postdoctoral fellow to join the Genome Canada/Genome Quebec funded GRID project (Gene Regulators in Diseases) at the McGill University and Genome Quebec Innovation Center, Montreal. The project aims at identifying the genetic causes of variation in gene regulation between individuals. The position, under the supervision of Dr. Mathieu Blanchette and Dr. Ken Dewar, will involve the development of new bioinformatics, algorithmic, or statistical approaches to the identification of regulatory SNPs. The project will involve the analysis of experimental data produced by members of the project, at all levels of gene regulation: Transcription (allelic transcriptional imbalance, transfection and gel-shift assays), splicing (exon microarrays), translation, and methylation.

    REQUIREMENTS

    Candidates should have recently completed (or be about to complete) a Ph.D. in bioinformatics, biostatistics, genetics, or molecular biology. Experience in both of the following two areas is required:
    • gene regulation, genomics, and analysis of polymorphisms, and
    • algorithm development, machine learning, statistics, program development and databases.
    Wet lab experience is also highly valued, but not required.
