BACKGROUND:
Two positions are available immediately for M.S./PH.D. level scientists with expertise in comparative genomics, computer science, and inferential statistics. The research project is entitled Molecular Evolution of Reproduction, and is funded by Molecular Evolution Unit of the Perinatology Research Branch/National Institute of Child Health and Human Development/NIH. The research emphasis is to take advantage of the genome sequence data using the tools of molecular evolution to understand the genetics of labor and birth in mammals.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Computational tool development, statistical and genomic analysis, database management, manuscript preparation.
REQUIREMENTS:
M.S.Ph.D. in Statistics, Computer Science, Biology or related field. Statistical and computational background. Sequence analysis skills.
PREFERENCES:
The ideal candidate will have excellent skills in phylogenetic analysis, comparative genomics, statistics, and molecular biology.
