BACKGROUND

Isis Pharmaceuticals, Inc., a leader in antisense oligonucleotide research and drug discovery, seeks a Bioinformatics Scientist with experience in genomics and bioinformatics. The successful candidate will join an energetic antisense drug discovery team, applying genomics and bioinformatics to all aspects of antisense drug discovery.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Genomics research related to Isis’s drug discovery programs as well as informatics and genomics support for the antisense research program; including maintenance of informatics tools supporting antisense research.

REQUIREMENTS

Necessary skills include familiarity with relational databases including query design, data management, data analysis and data mining. Experience with sequence analysis tools and programming (Java & Jakarta Struts preferred) is also important. Other desirable computer skills include a working knowledge of Oracle, Linux and Perl. A general knowledge of chemistry, experience with Chemdraw and experience with analysis of mRNA array data and pathway analysis is a plus.
