    BACKGROUND

    Overview RTI's Research Computing Division (RCD) has approximately 140 professionals with educational backgrounds and experience in computer science and related disciplines who provide computing services for collecting, processing, managing, and analyzing data. Our staff members are proficient in using an expansive list of computational tools including various programming languages, RTI-developed and commercial software as well as high performance computing resources.

    RESPONSIBILITIES

    Within RCD, the Bioinformatics Program focuses on performing leading edge research and development for customers in the biomedical field. Our project base includes work in scientific data management, biological simulation, high performance computing and genomics applications.
    The position involves the definition, development, and delivery of solutions to a broad range of problems for government and commercial clients. Specifically, the candidate will:
    •Collaborate with other team members to conduct applied research on government contracts and provide innovative technical solutions to leading-edge R&D.
    •Assist with customer interaction to augment project base.
    •Contribute to RTI’s scientific stature through conference presentations and publications.

    REQUIREMENTS

    Experience and Skills Required qualifications:
    •Foundation in computer science (esp. in HPC) and mathematics (esp. in biological modeling)
    •Experience in multidisciplinary scientific data management projects involving the use of relational databases and high performance computing resources
    •Experience with modern programming languages (e.g., Java and/or C++) and tools (e.g., Matlab or Mathematica)
    •Experience in software development using standard OOA/D and J2EE design patterns and tools (e.g., Spring, Hibernate, Struts)
    •Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
    •Education B.S. in Computer Science and 5+ years experience
