    BACKGROUND

    The National Bioinformatics Network (NBN, http://www.nbn.ac.za) is part of the Department of Science and Technology’s National Biotechnology Strategy by building local capacity in Bioinformatics and Functional Genomics. The NBN requires a wide range of expertise in order to provide the key future resources to develop and sustain Biotechnology as a significant contributor to the South African economy.

    RESPONSIBILITIES

    The main duties will involve coordinating certain aspects of bioinformatics services, educational and training programmes, funding initiatives and public relations. This position also offers opportunities to contribute to our active involvement in supporting the New Partnership for Africa's Development (NEPAD) initiative.     REQUIREMENTS

    The NBN Central office in Cape Town, South Africa, wishes to appoint a Project Coordinator to assist with organizational activities. We require a team player with excellent communication and organizational skills and post-graduate level experience in biology, bioinformatics, computer science, mathematics, statistics, or functional genomics or related disciplines.
