BACKGROUND

SGX Pharmaceuticals is a biotechnology company focused on the discovery and development of innovative cancer therapeutics. We have an exciting opportunity for a Drug Discovery Informatics Specialist.

RESPONSIBILITIES

We seek a candidate with 1-5 years of experience in industrial chemical and drug discovery informatics to fill a key drug discovery informatics position in our LIMS group. The Drug Discovery Informatics specialist will interact with all groups in drug discovery and work closely with LIMS staff to ensure integrity and accuracy of data within our Oracle-based LIMS system, including: Define and help develop new datatypes and data entry processes to support new experiments and assays, Troubleshoot and correct data entry errors, Enter data for those experiments and assays that do not yet have automated data entry processes, Become proficient in the use and user-level support of our chemical spreadsheet interface to our LIMS system and additional user interfaces within the LIMS system, Develop a comprehensive understanding of the Oracle table schema underlying SGX LIMS drug discovery informatics, Propose new or enhanced user interfaces and data input processes based on 3rd party applications and technology and/or in-house software development, Learn SGX' chemical registration system to assist and provide backup to compound registration.

REQUIREMENTS

The candidate must have a B.S. or M.S. in Chemistry, Biochemistry or related area (1 year of Organic Chemistry is required). Excellent communication and good computer skills are essential. Experience in scripting and programming are required (for example, Python, Perl, PHP, Excel Visual Basic), along with a working knowledge of Oracle and SQL. Good organizational skills, attention to detail and quality, and the ability to work independently are also required
