    DESCRIPTION

    • Lead the overall informatics requirements.
    • Lead discovery informatics for diagnostics development and tool development.
    • Responsible for discovery data and any necessary underlying databases required for marketing, manufacturing, and internal R&D
    • Lead the development of a broad strategy for informatics.
    • Participate in the development of capabilities to serve services customers, including work with marketing to identify and create tools, datasets, products, services, etc…
    • Participate in the budget process company-wide
    • Define and implement internal training programs
    • Participate in the development of marketing materials, including web portals, technical articles, seminars, etc… for customers, in combination with marketing department leads
    • Interact directly with R&D to provide support as needed
    • Define, implement, and maintain data systems and data analysis requirements company-wide
    • Responsible for leading the planning for any major genomics projects in the company, including the identification of required resources
    • Participate in the sales process
    • Other duties as assigned.

    REQUIREMENTS

    Ph.D. in a scientific discipline with a minimum of 5 years of industrial experience in informatics: or a M.S., B.S. or B.A. from a four-year college or university and 8 years of post-graduate experience.

    At least 3 years of experience leading the informatics efforts in a commercial setting is absolutely required.

    Significant managerial expertise is absolutely required. The ability to properly set deadlines, apply resource levels, and meet deadlines is crucial for this position. Travel up to 25% is required.

    PREFERABLE SKILLS AND ATTRIBUTES

    The ideal candidate will have significant experience and internal drive to grow the genomics-based products and services.

    The ideal candidate will have experience with implementing and maintaining the architecture behind an informatics system that interfaces with manufacturing, marketing, and customers.
    Expertise in PERL, SQL, Java, and other common tools is preferred.

    COMPENSATION:
    $125-175K
