    DESCRIPTION

    As a Bioinformatician you will be responsible for development and improvement of Almac Diagnostic's unique microarray research tools. As well as applying existing techniques, you will conduct product research and utilise findings to develop, test and use new methods in our product development pipeline.

    REQUIREMENTS

    Candidates must have a post graduate qualification in Bioinformatics or a primary degree in computer science with a postgraduate qualification in a biological science and industry experience in the field of bioinformatics. Applicants must have demonstrable experience of working in a Unix / Linux environment, they should also be competent in Perl scripting and have experience of shell scripting and MySQL or Oracle databases. A good working knowledge of typical sequence analysis based Bioinformatics tools and techniques is necessary as well as experience in functional annotation of biological sequences and good knowledge of online Bioinformatics resources. Experience working with microarrays is desirable but not essential.

    COMPENSATION

    Salary will be commensurate with experience and accomplishments and will include 33.5 days holiday per year (including statutory days), company pension scheme, enhanced sick pay and maternity entitlements, healthcare plan and opportunities for learning and development
