BACKGROUND

Located in the San Francisco Bay Area adjacent to Stanford University, we are seeking an individual with bioinformatics skills to join our Informatics group.DESCRIPTION
You will develop web-based applications to support data management, data integration, and data analysis and assist in the maintenance of SPB Informatics web-based resources. You will gather requirements, generate functional specifications, and perform data modeling, application design, implementation, testing and documentation. To support discovery efforts, you will develop analysis pipelines using bioinformatics applications and custom applications. In addition, you will apply bioinformatics methods to assist in target prioritization from discovery efforts such as microarray, functional screening, or RNAi and identify and implement new bioinformatics technologies.REQUIREMENTS
- BS with 2-3 years of experience or MS with equivalent experience in biological sciences or computer science with a demonstrated ability to develop software for biology or biotechnology-related applications.
- Good working knowledge of Java, JSP, Perl, SQL (ORACLE), R, HTML, Windows
- Familiarity with immunology, oncology, and microarray technology in the biotechnology industry.
- Experience with basic bioinformatics tools (Blast, BLAT, sequence analysis algorithms, clustering tools) and bioinformatics resources, including UCSC genome browser, Entrez gene, GEO, and pathway analysis.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills, including the ability to communicate about software to biologists.
- Good organizational and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to multitask and move to new projects with changing business needs.
- Strong end-user support ethic.
