Imagine Growing Together: You and Monsanto. Imagine Ideas Growing Through Creativity and Teamwork. The people of Monsanto are creating breakthroughs in science to improve both crop and animal agriculture around the world. RESPONSIBILITIES
Monsanto seeks a highly talented and motivated scientist to join our Protein Optimization efforts in development of our high throughput platform at our Cambridge, MA facility. This individual will develop bioinformatic and computational approaches to discover the patterns in large collections of variant proteins sequences that lead to desired changes in protein activity, and will be participate in experimental design for further rounds of protein evolution. In addition to performing analysis and design for on-going projects, the individual will develop toolsets that make analysis and display of such datasets systematic and accessible to scientists without programming expertise. It will sometimes be necessary to incorporate structural information into the analysis. The analysis will drive functional inferences and iterative rounds of protein design and testing. The selected individuals will work closely with a diverse group of researchers and patent scientists.
REQUIREMENTS:
Ph.D in a field related to Computational Protein Science and 5+ years experience beyond Ph.D. in computational approaches to protein structure/function questions. Experience in analysis of protein structure-function relationships, familiarity with protein crystal structures and advanced understanding of statistical analysis with practical experience in application. Expertise in developing and applying algorithmic models & machine learning approaches, broad knowledge of biology and understanding of basic enzymology a must. Expertise in standard bioinformatics tools, fluency in Perl, Java, C+, Oracle, UNIX operating environment, and expertise in use of statistical packages as well as experience with tools for structure visualization and molecular modeling required. Work experience in corporate/industrial environment strongly preferred.
