    ``Cynthia Gibas is an assistant professor of biology at Virginia Tech in Blacksburg, Virginia. Per Jambeck is a Ph.D. student in the bioengineering department at the University of California, San Diego. Both have extensive experience in computational biology, which applies techniques from computer science to biological problems. This field has recently been dubbed `bioinformatics.'
