DESCRIPTION

Applicants are invited to join the Wellcome Trust Functional Genomics of Ageing at the EBI. The consortium studies ageing in model organisms (worms, flies and mice) to investigate evolutionarily conserved pathways associated with longevity.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the analysis of microarray experiments to help elucidate genetic determinants of ageing, and for the maintenance of a repository of microarray and annotation databases. The major research aim for this position is to develop pathway and network approaches for the analysis of the microarray data.

REQUIREMENTS

The ideal candidate should hold a degree/PhD in Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Computing or related subjects. Some programming experience is essential, and experience with PERL, C, Java, HTML/CSS or Javascript is desirable. Familiarity with microarray or pathway/network analysis would be a benefit. The successful candidate should be able to work within a very collaborative environment and be able to effectively communicate with experimentalists. Organisational skills in order to manage the experimentalists’ responsibilities within the collaboration and their own research projects are required. Fluent English skills are a necessity.

CONTRACT

An initial contract of 1 year and 3 months will be offered to the successful candidate. This can be renewed, depending on circumstances at the time of review.
