POSITION

Tenured or tenure-track Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor. Joint appointment in the Departments of Mathematics and Biological Sciences, California State University, Los Angeles. Rank and salary commensurate with qualifications and experience.

REQUIREMENTS

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in applied mathematics and bioinformatics or computational biology, with earned doctorate or All But Dissertation (ABD) in Applied Mathematics or relevant field. (Doctorate required for tenure.) A demonstrated record of research and scholarly activity is expected, as is demonstrated potential for developing an independent research program and for effective teaching using a variety of methodologies. The candidate must have demonstrated ability and/or interest in working in a multi-ethnic, multicultural environment. Academic or industrial postdoctoral research experience in bioinformatics, college teaching experience, as well as demonstrated potential for involving undergraduate and MS students in research is a plus.

In addition to teaching classes in Applied Mathematics and Bioinformatics/Computational Biology relevant to his/her experience, it is expected that a successful candidate will participate in the curriculum development process at both the undergraduate and graduate levels in both departments. Publications in peer-reviewed journals and/or grant activity is required, as is participation in university service and university outreach programs.
