BACKGROUND
The John Innes Centre (JIC) is the premier European independent research centre for the study of plant science and microbiology.
Applications are invited for a High-throughput Data Analyst, required to support the John Innes Centre’s scientific research by:
- Partaking in collaborative projects employing high-throughput experimental techniques.
- Building and maintaining expertise at JIC in the design and analysis of high-throughput experiments for research following Systems Biology methodologies.
- Scoping and reporting on areas where computational statistics and novel employment of high-throughput experimental techniques may make a significant contribution to JIC research; with a special emphasis on Systems Biology.
REQUIREMENTS
Candidates should have an MSc or PhD-level qualification in biometry, applied statistics or equivalent; together with previous relevant work experience. The ability to effectively work with scientists in a research environment with the interest to quickly understand and distil life-scientific problems into information-scientific formulations is also required. Further requirements include expert-level knowledge of S-plus/R, and MatLab/Octave; an ability to work independently, communicate clearly and planning. Conducting interactions with colleagues and collaborators in a professional manner, together with a strong ability to present analyses are also essential. Strong scripting and programming skills in UNIX-like environments would be desirable.
