We are seeking a Bioinformatics Engineer to help develop, maintain, and support bioinformatics tools in support of the Venter Institute's activities in sample tracking, genomic assembly and annotation, resequencing, genomic medicine, environmental genomics and synthetic genomics. Responsible for development of applications and databases for Genomics or Bioinformatics tools in support of the Institute's scientific mission. Requirements include a B.S. in a scientific discipline/software engineering or equivalent; 2+ years of experience with bioinformatics/software development including experience with BLAST and bioinformatics data resources; experience eliciting requirements from users and writing requirements documents; experience with object and data modeling and UML tools; understanding processes in software development life cycle; ability to collaborate across a multi-disciplinary team and to work independently. Genomics or Bioinformatics experience or significant experience in other complex scientific domain is a plus.HOW TO APPLY
