ABOUT US

The UC Davis Genome Center is a campus-wide initiative integrating experimental and computational approaches to address key problems at the forefront of genomics. The Center also has four wetlab service cores and one bioinformatics core that enable researchers across campus to perform limiting, high throughput experiments in proteomics, gene expression, metabolomics, or genotyping. The Bioinformatics core provides expertise and infrastructure to carry out complex data sets acquisition, curation, distribution as well as to develop and perform computations, analyses and simulations addressing a wide variety of biological questions from genomics and systems biology. The services provided by the core is on a recharge basis to all campus researchers.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Apply and integrate bioinformatics databases and tools for high throughput experimental data analysis and management. Incumbent will develop and integrate program pipelines as well as perform advanced multi-dimentional data mining and statistical analysis.

REQUIREMENTS:
Extensive knowledge in Biological Science, Computer Science, Statistics and Bioinformatics or related fields demonstrated through education (a Master’s degree or a B.S. degree with working experience) or equivalent experience. Experience in Microarray analysis or association studies preferred. Skills to use genomic, proteomic databases and other bioinformatics and statistical tools such as R, Matlab, SAS or similar languages. Demonstrated experience in writing and debugging large scale databases, Web based applications and scientific software tools in LAMPP environment (Linux, Apache, Mysql or postgreSQL, Perl/PHP/Python). Java experience preferred. Knowledge of hardware, network and security management. Excellent interpersonal skills to work as a team member. Excellent organizational and time management skills to help meet goals of the assignment. Ability to manage multiple simultaneous projects, meet deadlines, and maintain a consistently high level of productivity. Excellent verbal and written skills to communicate technical issues. Working knowledge in Mac OS, Windows operating system.
