    BACKGROUND

    This position is funded by the Irish Research Council for Science Engineering and Technology and Microsoft. The position will be renewable to three years after a satisfactory one-year progress and stipend (€16,000 per year) and fees will be provided. The title of the project is “A computational approach to decipher the molecular immune response to pathogenic bacteria� and the successful candidate will conduct computational work in the molecular evolution of pathogenic bacteria and molecules involved in the host defense of high eukaryotic organisms.

    REQUIREMENTS

    The student should have a strong background in biology and some computational skills. Programming in Perl, C/C++ or R will be desirable but not essential. This position will start as soon as possible in 2007 and students with good marks in any of the genetics or biological areas related to the project are encouraged to apply. The student should have a degree in Molecular Biology, Bioinformatics or any other biological discipline.

    COMPENSATION

    €16,000 per year plus fees.
