BACKGROUND

A post-doctoral position in computational biology of breast cancer is open immediately at Institut Curie, Paris (http://www.curie.fr) (support for 24 months).
The project is coordinated by Dr Dominique Stoppa-Lyonnet and Dr Marc-Henri Stern, and is funded by the Cancéropole and Région Ile-de-France. It is part of a collaborative network on hereditary breast cancers, between five important clinical and research settings in Paris area. The bioinformatics part will be conducted in collaboration and in direct contact with Institut Curie Bioinformatics and Computational Systems Biology Group. This group, headed by Dr Emmanuel Barillot, consists of an interdisciplinary team of 25 computational biologists, mathematicians, statisticians, physicists and computer scientists (http://bioinfo-out.curie.fr).

RESPONSIBILITIES

The successful candidate will participate in a project aiming at a better understanding and an improved diagnosis of the familial forms of breast cancer.
More specifically he/she will collaborate with researchers, biologists, clinicians and bioinformaticians to analyze the genomic and transcriptomic profiles of series of patients and to better characterize the different forms of familial breast cancer (BRCA1/BRCA2/BRCAx).

REQUIREMENTS

We expect the candidate to have a PhD in computational biology, bioinformatics, mathematics, physics, or computer science. A strong background in statistics is required and some knowledge of molecular biology and genetics would be appreciated. Experience in cancer research is not mandatory but would be a plus. Good communication skills and a capacity to work in autonomy are essential.
