BACKGROUND
The Department of Biochemistry & Molecular Biology in the Faculty of Medicine and the Department of Computer Science in the Faculty of Science of the University of Calgary jointly invite applications for a Bioinformatician.RESPONSIBILITIES
This position offers an excellent opportunity to develop an independent research program within a dynamic, collaborative and multidisciplinary environment. The successful candidate will develop a vigorous and externally funded research program in computational biology or related aspects of bioinformatics. All applicants are expected to have publications and research experience with strong components of biological/biomedical science and computing with an emphasis on analysis, development or application of computational tools or approaches for expanding the use of biological, medical, or health data, including those to acquire, store, organize, archive, analyze, or visualize such data. Experience in interdisciplinary collaboration is an important asset.REQUIREMENTS
Ph.D., at least two years of post-doctoral experience and a proven record of research excellence in bioinformatics.PREFERENCES
Emphasis will be placed on quality research and effective teaching as well as on the ability to participate in collaborative and interdisciplinary activities.TERMS
Full-time Assistant or Associate Professor. Duties include teaching in the bioinformatics degree program of the Bachelor of Health Sciences (Honours) program as well as undergraduate and graduate student supervision.LOCALE
