Currently, we are seeking an enzyme engineer to take part in in silico enzyme modification projects and actively participate in the development and validation of our in-house molecular simulation software. The successful applicant for this position will start in March of 2007.
REQUIREMENTS: (Applicants will not be considered without the following skills)
• Ph.D. in Molecular Biology or Biochemistry
• Demonstrated experience in rational protein design or directed evolution
• Thorough knowledge and practical experience of structural biology and enzyme mechanisms
• Greater than 2 years of either industrial or academic post-graduate experience in a protein biochemistry-related field
• Ability to communicate in the English language (spoken and written)
Further skills (The following skills are an asset to qualified applicants)
• Familiarity with wet-lab techniques and processes for enzyme modification, expression, purification and biochemical characterization
• Experience with homology modeling and docking software
• Experience using molecular modeling and visualization packages (AMBER, CHARMM, VMD, Chimera, etc.)
• Knowledge of the Linux operating system
• Experience in one or more scripting languages (Perl, Tcl, etc.)
• General understanding of the software development process
• Should know about: AAGGAGAACGATCGTGAATGGRESPONSIBILITIES
• Perform feasibility studies for proposed protein engineering projects
• Propose and carryout internal projects for software validation
• Write analysis tools in the perl and Tcl/Tk scripting languages
• Closely interact with the software development team to improve and advance the functionality of our in-house modeling/analysis package
• Assist in the selection of commercial software tools to supplement our in-house package
• Participate in the preparation of patents and publicationsCOMPENSATION
