DESCRIPTION:
The Computational Biology (CB) group of the Department of Plant Systems Biology is seeking a post-doctoral researcher to participate in the project EMERALD, funded by the European FP6 programme. The EMERALD project is a Coordination Action aiming to develop quality control and quality assessment procedures to enhance the data quality of transcriptome microarrays.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
This project is coordinated by the CB group, and the main tasks include the organisation of a series of topical workshops to discuss strategies to develop and implement QA/QC measures throughout the microarray community. In addition, the CB group will determine the effects of quality metrics and implementation of QA/QC measures to enhance the efficacy of transcriptome compendium analysis.

REQUIREMENTS:
The candidate that we seek should be trained in Biology and/or Bioinformatics, and preferably he/she has previous experience with the organisation of workshops and project management. It will be an advantage if the candidate has experience with designing and building websites.

The Department of Plant Systems Biology (PSB), located in Ghent, is part of the Flanders Interuniversity Institute for Biotechnology (VIB).
