Opportunity: Senior Scientist in Protein Bioinformatics at Monsanto

DESCRIPTION:
We are seeking a highly talented scientist to join our Protein Bioinformatics effort to accelerate delivery of agricultural biotechnology products. The candidate will oversee the protein function annotation, domain analysis and structure modeling, sequence/structural comparison, prediction of protein-protein/inter-domain interactions and post-translational modification, and data analysis and visualization to correlate protein variants design and assay outcome. The results will help drive the understanding of protein function and mode of action to support both rational design and directed evolution approaches to protein engineering and optimization. The selected individual will work closely with diverse groups of researchers throughout the company's technology organization.
REQUIREMENTS:
Ph.D. or equivalent in computational biology, bioinformatics or other related science discipline, and 3+ years of experience in computational biology and data analysis is required. The candidate should have comprehensive working knowledge in experimental and/or computational aspects of protein structural determination and functional inference. Familiarity with common bioinformatics tools and databases, statistical methods, computational algorithms and tools for data analysis, machine learning and visualization. Fluency in Perl, Java, or C/C++, and the UNIX working environment. The candidate is expected to possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills and should be a strong team player who will work on collaborative projects within and across teams.
