Opportunity: Bioinformatics Postion at UVA--Charlottesville, VA (US)

BACKGROUND:
The University of Virginia, Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Genetics has an opening for a postdoctoral research associate in bioinformatics/computational biology to analyze gene expression, all exon, promoter, yeast TAG, and genomic tiling array data generated at UVA.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Through multiple collaborations with molecular biologists at UVA, a highly motivated postdoctoral research associate will have the opportunity to build on and apply multiple data sets to an existing computational pipeline which takes raw intensity data as input, filters for statistically significant genes/ChiP-chip targets, identifies patterns in the data using clustering/PCA and summarizes the biological significance by performing Gene Ontology and biochemical pathway analysis.

REQUIREMENTS:
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in analyzing microarray data in collaboration with molecular biologists. The candidate must have a Ph.D. in statistics, computer science, mathematics, molecular biology, physics or chemistry and strong programming experience in Perl, R/S+, C/C++.

PREFERENCES:
Experience working with Bioconductor and SQL is a plus.
