BACKGROUND
The Neuroinformatics group leader will be integral to the development and maintenance of a sophisticated informatics core. The selected candidate will interact with members of multiple departments and centers in the Texas Medical Center, and will oversee data collection and entry, along with providing formatted datasets (with some programming as needed) to individuals who analyze data. The ideal candidate will recognize and improve upon areas of weakness in the data collection, entry, and retrieval process.RESPONSIBILITIES
The candidate will be responsible for providing formatted datasets to investigators and statisticians. Supervise data collection and entry. Manage electronic transfer of datasets. Responsible for improving efficiency and accuracy in data collection and management.REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor's degree in computer science or related field with a minimum of three and a half years programming experience or relevant experience in lieu of education.PREFERENCES
Required technical skills include:
- ASP.NET
- Perl, Java, and C++ or other object oriented languages, proficiency with relational databases such as Oracle or SQL.
- Experience with statistical analysis packages such as SPSS, SAS, or R. Necessary for transfer of data, preparation for analysis, queries, reports, etc.
- Interpersonal and communication skills are critical; the successful candidate must be able to clearly and succinctly explain biomedical informatics concepts to users.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Flexibility to handle a variety of tasks and shift priorities simultaneously.
