BACKGROUND
The Graveley lab (http://genetics.uchc.edu/Graveley/Welcome.html) works on alternative splicing and microRNAs in Humans, Drosophila and Planarians. Specific projects include the analysis of genome-wide tiling array and splice junction array data to analyze alternative splicing, the development of splicing regulatory network maps, using comparative genomics to study genome evolution, identify splicing regulatory elements, and discover functionally relevant RNA secondary structures, and to analyze large data sets of small RNAs (i.e., 454).RESPONSIBILITIES
The successful candidate will be required to analyze microarray data to identify alternative splicing events that change under different conditions, map small RNA sequences to various genomes, and write code necessary to perform these studies. In addition, the person will maintain the lab cluster of 15 Apple Dual Xeon Xserves.REQUIREMENTS
The successful candidate must have a Ph.D. in biology, bioinformatics, computer science or related field and have a good working knowledge of both biology and bioinformatics. Fluency in one or more languages such as Perl, Python, Ruby, R, etc. is requried.PREFERENCES
