    DESCRIPTION

    As a QA Engineer, you must observe and constructively work towards improving the overall product quality, testing and risk management process. You must proactively seek product information by working closely with various groups including Development, Science Teams, and Quality Assurance. You will be responsible for designing, creating, executing, and monitoring unit, functional and performance tests.

    REQUIREMENTS

    • Bachelor’s or master’s in biology or related science with background in organic and biochemistry
    • Proficiency in Unix and Windows operating systems
    • Self-starter, who is detailed, thorough, organized, and has proven ability to prioritize and scope work
    • Team player who would enjoy working with cross-functional group of QA engineers, scientists, software developers, logicians, and product managers
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
    • Excellent logic, problem solving ability, and troubleshooting skills
    • Comfortable interpreting scientific literature and experience in wet-labs
    • Scripting experience with Perl, Python, or Jython

    PREFERENCES

    • Familiarity with ontologies, specifically bio-ontologies
    • Familiarity with SQL , and database design structure and testing
    • Object-oriented programming experience – Java preferred
    • Experience manipulating XML and large data files
    • Experience developing test plans, designing, implementing, executing and analyzing test cases, writing bug reports, and assessing risk
    • Experience with version control modules like CVS or Subversion
