RESPONSIBILITIES:
The successful candidate will have experience analyzing complex scientific data and a background in Physics, Biophysics, Physical Chemistry. The applicant should be self-motivated to quickly learn our custom data analysis software and then progress to perform analyses of their own design within one of the standard data analysis software packages. The applicant will work with a team of scientists interpreting DNA barcodes (images of fluorescently tagged DNA fragments) based on U.S. Genomics’ GeneEngine technology.

REQUIREMENTS:
M.S. in Physics, Biophysics, Physical Chemistry or B.S. with 2-4 years experience involving scientific data analysis. Extensive experience using an interactive data analysis and plotting software package, e.g. MATLAB, Mathematica, Origin, Igor, or similar. Strong quantitative ability with an interest in characterizing complex experimental data; well organized with strong communication skills to generate professional charts and short reports; self-motivated with a desire to learn biophysics and some software development by working with an excellent team of scientists and software developers.

PREFERENCES:
Combinations of the following skills will be advantageous; coursework or experience in probability and statistics, biochemistry or biophysics; experience in pattern classification algorithms; experience in signal processing and numerical analysis.
