BACKGROUND - RESPONSIBILITIES
A postdoctoral position in the area of computational biology is available immediately in the research group of Dr. Takis Benos (http://www.benoslab.pitt.edu) at the Department of Computational Biology, School of Medicine, University of Pittsburgh as part of a major research initiative. The areas of research include but not limited to comparative genomics, gene expression, and regulatory networks. You will be expected to develop algorithms to model gene networks based on expression data of protein coding and microRNA genes and genome-wide association (ChIP-chip) data. The focus of the laboratory is in the study of gene networks in relation to mammalian immune responses and major diseases, like diabetes, and cancer. Fluent programming skill and good communication skills are essential. Highly motivated and creative candidates are encouraged to apply.REQUIREMENTS
