DESCRIPTION

The Rebholz group is developing new text mining solutions that are delivered to the public. Available solutions (Whatizit, EbiMed) are based on finite state automata, statistical techniques and other state of the art text processing techniques. In the future, the group will extend its efforts in processing of public resources, analysis of different types of textual resources and expanding the modular infrastructure. For this reason we are looking for an experienced software developer who wants to contribute to the progress of the software solutions in text mining available from the EMBL-EBI. The successful applicant will be responsible for the existing information extraction technology and newly developed solutions.

REQUIREMENTS

The ideal candidate should hold a degree in a relevant field (computer science, computational linguistics) and have proven professional experience in software development. Experience in Java, Unix/Linux, Python, shell scripting, Web services and Web applications (Apache Tomcat) is required. Applicants with experience in text mining are preferred, experience in the biomedical field or bioinformatics is a plus. Because of the research-oriented culture of the EBI, candidates with good communication skills, willingness to build and share competences and an ambition to work in an international environment are invited to apply.

CONTRACT

An initial contract of 3 year(s) will be offered to the successful candidate. This can be renewed, depending on circumstances at the time of review.
