    DESCRIPTION

    We are looking for a talented and highly motivated programmer to join the Immune Epitope Database and Analysis Resource (IEDB) bioinformatics team. The IEDB (http://www.immuneepitope.org) is a new NIH-funded bioinformatics resource that will aid the development of vaccines, immunotherapeutics, and diagnostics, and assist scientists better understand immune mechanisms. Candidates will work with the IEDB team to develop, deploy, and maintain production Java web applications, and will participate in the design, implementation, and testing of research-focused software programs for the development of analytical and predictive modeling tools for immune responses and vaccine development. Candidates will have the opportunity to expand their knowledge and working experience in bioinformatics and immunology while working on at one of the country’s top immunological research institutes.

    REQUIREMENTS

    Interested candidates should have at least a Bachelor degree in the sciences with strong computer programming and information technology experience. Other requirements include demonstrated experience with Java web development (including servlets, JSP, and CSS), relational databases, XML, Linux/Unix, and major bioinformatics resources (e.g. GenBank, Swiss-Prot, PDB, BLAST, and NCBI Entrez). Experience with Perl, Python, ASP, Struts, Eclipse IDE, and Apache Tomcat is desirable, and background knowledge of immunology, biochemistry, and bioinformatics is a strong plus.

    COMPENSATION

    Salary will be commensurate with experience.
