    BACKGROUND:
    The Broad Institute of MIT and Harvard seeks an ASSOCIATE COMPUTATIONAL BIOLOGIST

    RESPONSIBILITIES:
    to assist scientists in performing computational analysis of genome sequences and related functional information by developing and supporting tools and maintaining genomic databases and data sets. Will run bioinformatics jobs to support analysis and participate in and contribute to a dynamic scientific community. Duties will include performing timely and accurate bioinformatic analysis to aid researchers in performing computational analysis of microbial genomes; maintaining, supporting, and documenting shared tools, code base, and data sets for computational analysis; developing tools for integrating expression and metabolic data with comparative genomic data; and working with researchers to define and implement bioinformatics analysis tools.

    REQUIREMENTS:
    A bachelor's degree in computer science, bioinformatics, or related field; proficiency with some combination of the following programming languages: Perl, Java, C, or Python; and experience with relational databases and SQL. Experience with CVS a plus. Experience managing large-scale data sets desired, especially expression or metabolomic data. Demonstrated interest in bioinformatics and common bioinformatics tools (Blast, HMMer, etc.) needed. Excellent communication skills required. Must be able to work effectively as part of a team.
