Opportunity: COMPUTATIONAL BIOLOGIST-COMPARATIVE GENE PREDICTION at the Broad Institute--Cambridge, MA (US)

BACKGROUND:
The Broad Institute of MIT and Harvard seeks a COMPUTATIONAL BIOLOGIST-COMPARATIVE GENE PREDICTION to act as the leading scientist and developer on a machine learning system for comparative gene prediction. Will be responsible for ongoing developments and enhancements; applications to various comparative genomic data sets including fungi, invertebrates, and human; and public software release and user support. Will interact and coordinate with collaborators, publish scholarly reports, and present at scientific conferences.
REQUIREMENTS:
a Ph.D. in computer science, engineering, physics, math, or bioinformatics; and experience with machine learning techniques and/or graphical models. Experience with conditional random fields a strong plus. Must have demonstrated experience designing and implementing computational methods and algorithms. Proficiency with Java needed. Should demonstrate an interest in at least one of the following research areas: computational biology, sequence analysis, and/or genomics. Initiative and ability to work effectively as part of a team needed.
