    BACKGROUND

    We are looking for a software developer to join the Swiss-Prot group at the Swiss Institute of Bioinformatics [http://expasy.org/people/swissprot.html].

    RESPONSIBILITIES

    The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining and extending the new official UniProt web site [http://beta.uniprot.org] and the RDF distribution of the UniProt database [http://dev.isb-sib.ch/projects/uniprot-rdf/].

    REQUIREMENTS

    Applicants must be fluent in Java and English, have experience with building and setting up web applications, and should be able to demonstrate an interest in the life sciences domain, semantic web standards, search engine design, interacting with users via usability tests, and open source libraries and tools such as Lucene, Struts and Tomcat.

    PREFERENCES

    Swiss citizens, valid working permit holders, or citizens of the European Union (but we'll consider outside applicants, too).
