POSITION DESCRIPTION AND BACKGROUND:
We are seeking an informatics professional or librarian with advanced degree training and experience in one or more of the basic life sciences related to bioinformatics & particular skill in the development and presentation of educational programs. Key features of this exciting position include:
• The liaison will be a member of the library faculty at our Health Sciences Library with significant time spent at the University’s new Center of Excellence in Bioinformatics & Life Sciences on the Buffalo Niagara Medical campus adjacent to the Roswell Park Cancer Center, the Hauptman-Woodward Medical Research Institute, & the Buffalo General Hospital.
• The liaison will develop & conduct library & course-integrated educational programs for graduate & post-graduate students & faculty related to the effective use of specialized bioinformatics & molecular biology databases & information resources.
• The liaison will build collaborative research project liaison & support roles with faculty research teams needing to build, or make effective use, of specialized bioinformatics & molecular biology databases and information resources.
• The liaison will establish & maintain effective Web-based current awareness & access tools.
• The liaison will support anticipatory biomedical knowledge discovery & synthesis tools & strategies for the bioinformatics & molecular biology research community.REQUIREMENTS
• Graduate degree in molecular biology, cell biology, biochemistry, or an equivalent area of the life sciences
• Demonstrated ability to effectively search & use specialized databases and tools available from the National Library of Medicine’s National Center for Biotechnology Information (NCBI)
SALARY RANGE:
$55,000-80,000 based on experience & qualificationsHOW TO APPLY
