    LOCALE: University of Basel, Switzerland
    DATES: August 27-31, 2007

The Biosapiens Network has established a Permanent European School in Bioinformatics (ESB), which is held twice a year in a different country every time. The next school will be held at the Biozentrum of the University of Basel, Switzerland, from August 27 to 31, 2007.

The Permanent European School in Bioinformatics is intensive and has a substantial practical component. Its intent is to give a basic overview of the methods and tools available to the community and will cover five themes:
    • Protein Families and Functional Annotation
    • Protein Structure Prediction
    • Data Integration and Access to Genes and Genomes
    • Systems Biology
    • Microarray Data Analysis
The course is directed towards people with little or no experience in computational techniques and/or in the usage of bioinformatics.
