RESPONSIBILITIES
The successful scientist in this role will work in the LSCDD systems biology unit. He or she will be responsible for leading integrative analysis of heterogeneous data in support of biomarker discovery and target identification/validation. The successful candidate should have a demonstrated and successful track record delivering impact from informatics data analysis into a pharmaceutical research programme. Specific responsibilities include:
• Apply state-of-the-art integrative analysis techniques to advance decisions on the Lilly pipeline. Data include comparative genomic hybridization, gene expression, ultra-high throughput sequencing, proteomics, metabonomics, and high-content cellular screening data. Data sources include in vitro and in vivo model systems as well as clinical samples for translational research.
• Develop novel methods to advance data interpretation based on integrated mathematical and statistical models of biological systems
• Work with experimental scientists on collaborative projects in drug discovery
Requirements
• Ph.D. in life sciences, computational biology, or a related area.
• 4-6 years demonstrated success in pharmaceutical or biotechnology industry experience analyzing disparate, high throughput genomic and/or proteomic data for biomarker and target identification
• Experience with programmatic tools used in computational informatics analysis, such as Perl for bioinformatics, S/R for statistical programming, and Matlab for numerical analysis and modeling
• Experience using client analysis applications such as Spotfire, Ingenuity, Oncomine, and GeneData for high throughput data analysis and interpretation
• Demonstrated contribution to successful cross-disciplinary teams including informaticists, biologists and clinical scientists doing translational research
• Oncology or Diabetes experience preferred.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
