    COMPUTATIONAL BIOLOGIST-METABOLIC MODELING--at the Broad Institute--Cambridge, MA (US)

    BACKGROUND:
    The Broad Institute of MIT and Harvard seeks a COMPUTATIONAL BIOLOGIST-METABOLIC MODELING, to work directly with the associate director of microbial sequence analysis and assume responsibility for developing and applying advanced computational tools for the analysis of metabolic networks; work with collaborators to integrate experimental validation with computational analysis; and communicate results to the scientific community through conference presentations and publications.

    RESPONSIBILITIES:
    The research will entail utilizing genomic data and technologies for discovering and modeling metabolic networks. Representative duties will include developing, documenting, maintaining, and applying computational tools for modeling metabolic networks; contributing to the maintenance of analysis infrastructure supporting the microbial analysis team (data sets and databases, shared code bases, etc.); interacting and coordinating with collaborators as required; publishing scholarly reports and presenting at scientific conferences; participating within a team of scientists to foster a culture of scientific discourse and excellence; and related tasks as needed.

    REQUIREMENTS:
    A Ph.D. in computer science, engineering, physics, math, bioinformatics, or relevant scientific discipline; and at least three years of experience designing computational methods and tools, including experience with algorithms and mathematics, statistics, or machine learning. Experience with MATLAB a plus. Must have demonstrated interest in at least one of the following research areas: metabolic networks, regulatory networks, systems biology, genomics, cellular biology, microbiology, or biochemistry. Outstanding personal initiative and ability to work effectively as part of a team required.
