    BACKGROUND

    AVEO’s translational research program.

AVEO has created a novel platform based on next generation inducible tumor models to discover, validate and generate therapeutics against molecular targets in oncology. Furthermore, we have adapted our platform to generate large populations of genetically engineered tumors that exhibit inter-tumor variation similar to that seen in human tumor populations. Each tumor has been characterized by expression profiling, array CGH, histology and key signaling pathways. Having developed methodology to archive these tumors, we have now generated data on the efficacy of targeted inhibitors across these populations, including AVEO’s clinical stage drug candidates, enabling the correlation of gene expression and DNA copy number with drug efficacy.
This well characterized tumor population model system provides an attractive platform for the creative innovative bioinformatics scientist to develop and test translational hypotheses, with the goal of using the models to inform clinical trial design regarding tumor, tumor subtype and patient selection for AVEO’s own clinical stage oncology drug candidates.

    RESPONSIBILITIES

We are seeking a highly motivated, independent scientist to lead an effort to apply large scale gene expression analysis to assess the impact of genetic context on drug response using AVEO’s proprietary inducible tumors models.

    REQUIREMENTS

The position requires a PhD in Biology, or equivalent, as well as significant knowledge and experience in cancer biology examining molecular mechanisms of cellular transformation. The ideal candidate has a proven track record of evaluating large oncology related datasets; and also possesses a working knowledge of statistical approaches to expression datasets as well as familiarity with software programming.
