    BACKGROUND:
A postdoctoral position is available immediately at the Institute of Genetics and Molecular and Cellular Biology in Strasbourg, France.

    RESPONSIBILITIES:
The project aims at the automatic construction of the evolutionary histories for a complete proteome and their large scale integrated analysis. The major goals are the understanding of the mechanisms involved in the evolution of the eukaryotic genome as well as the efficient introduction and exploitation of phylogenetic inferences in modern biology. The work of the postdoc will be dedicated mainly to the creation of an ontology of genetic events and their consequences, the development of an expert system for the reconstruction of the evolutionary history of a single protein and he/she will also participate in the analysis of the evolutionary histories of the human proteome.

    REQUIREMENTS:
The successful candidate should have already gained experience in ontology, data mining, sequence and evolutionary analysis, statistical analysis and clustering algorithms. A post-doctoral fellow coming from a bioinformatics laboratory, where these techniques are commonly employed, corresponds ideally to the post.
