BACKGROUND
Bioinformatics and computational Biology is grown out of traditional fields of health informatics, biostatistics, molecular biology and genetics. Bioinformatics lab at Boise State university is currently engaged in an abroad area of biological and biomedical research including algorithm and database developments: 1) to comparatively analyze multiple mammalian genomes to understand molecular mechanisms underlying infectious bacterial diseases, resistance or immunity of chimpanzee to HIV/AID, malaria Alzheimer’s diseases and many other deadly human diseases, 2) to predict immunogenic epitopes (the part of a macromolecule that is recognized by the immune system, specifically by antibodies, B cells, or T cells) for vaccine development in west Nile virus and other infectious pathogens; 3) to develop tools to mine and visualize the biological data; 4) tools develop to analyze mass spectrum data.RESPONSIBILITIES
