    BACKGROUND

    Computercraft seeks a computational biologist with a background in genotype analysis to work with NCBI scientists to develop infrastructure to analyze large-scale genomic data with clinical phenotype data. The successful candidate will work onsite at the National Center for Biotechnology Information (NCBI) in the Genotype and Phenotype database group http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/entrez/query.fcgi?db=gap . This groundbreaking project is aimed to assist scientists discover associations between genetic variants and risks for disease.

    RESPONSIBILITIES

    Responsibilities will include genotype analysis pipeline development, data reformatting, data quality control, management of a relational database, data curation, and communication with external investigators. This is an opportunity to be involved in the development of a new resource with the potential to revolutionize human genetic disease research.

    REQUIREMENTS

    • Ph.D. or M.S. or sufficient experience in genetic linkage analysis and/or allelic association studies
    • Scripting experience in Perl
    • Relational database experience (SQL)
    • Linux/UNIX experience
    • Ability to work with a team in a production environment and communicate well with NCBI biologists and programmers as well as external scientists
    • Strong interest in contributing to the development of public database resources
