Moffitt Cancer Center in Tampa, Florida, is a Comprehensive Cancer Center as designated by the National Cancer Institute and is the home of the largest Blood and Marrow Transplant Center in the Southeast United States. DESCRIPTION

Under general supervision, formulates/defines specifications for complex software in a modern object oriented environment. Designs, codes, benchmark testing, debugging and documentation of programs. Applications generally deal with original program development of support of locally developed programs, but with connectivity to institutional programs. Competent to work at the highest technical level on all phases of software systems programming applications. May have responsibility for the evaluation of new and existing software products. May assist other programmers to effectively utilize the developed software, and as a member of a larger programming team.

REQUIREMENTS:
Education: B.S. in Computer or Information Science with at least 1 year of practical experience.

Years of prior experience: See above. Experience in biomedical informatics or bioinformatics desirable but not required.

COMPETENCIES:
Ability to develop high quality, documented code under supervision. Ability to plan, organize and coordinate work assignments. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others and communicate clearly verbally and in writing, and be team-oriented and able to balance multiple projects. Is familiar with distributed computing environment, modern computer software architectures and advanced software practices. Is dedicated to superior customer service and satisfaction. Familiarity with Open database Compliant relational databases such as Oracle, SQL Server, MySQL. Familiarity with at least one of the following languages: C++, perl or Java.
