    BACKGROUND

    SunGene is an R&D company in the research platform of BASF Plant Science. SunGene is engaged in the improvement of crop plants focusing on qualitative and quantitative traits of economic interest.
    We are currently looking tor a highly motivated and dynamic scientist (PhD or equivalent).

    RESPONSIBILITIES

    Starting trom the biological/biochemical problem you will work out bioinformatics solutions as an integral member of various project teams. In your function you will collaborate with biologists and computer scientists to improve and maintain the world wide bioinformatics platform of BASF Plant Science including user support for bioinformatics applications.

    REQUIREMENTS

    Good overview of the entire bioinformatics field and work experience in some of the following areas:
    ▪ Functional annotation, sequence assembly, metabolic pathways, microarray design and analysis, statistics, biological databases and retrieval system
    ▪ Sound knowledge of plant biology, doctorate in biology/ biochemistry would
    be a plus
    ▪ Experience in either object oriented, SQL or script programming
    ▪ Software engineering, design patterns are a plus
    ▪ Ability to plan and work independently
    ▪ Excellent communication and English skills
    ▪ Creative and motivated team player
