Program Analyst IV - # 97566 BACKGROUND
SAIC-Frederick, Inc., a subsidiary of SAIC, is the Operations and Technical Support Contractor for the National Cancer Institute at Frederick (NCI-Frederick) a federally funded research and development center. SAIC-Frederick, Inc. is one of four related NCI contracts on-site and serves as the infrastructure support for the entire center. The contract is the largest single research contract awarded by the Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) and it is the department's only Government-owned, contractor-operated facility contract.
SAIC- Frederick and our Advanced Biomedical Computing Center have an exciting opportunity for a Program Analyst IV. This position will be responsible for providing dedicated bioinformatics support to multiple investigators and projects and manage large genetic data sets. Analysis of whole genome association data in the context of cancer and cancer phenotypes will be performed. Develop, execute and report results of specialized analysis protocols in collaboration with other bioinformaticians, biostatisticians and epidemiological investigators and provide consultation to the investigator community.REQUIREMENTS
Possession of a Bachelors degree from an accredited college/university in a related field or four (4) years related experience in lieu of degree. Masters degree preferred. Foreign educated candidates who have completed part or all of their education outside of the United States must have their foreign education evaluated by an SAIC-approved accrediting organization to assure that it has met the equivalency of the qualifications of degree work in the United States.
Minimum of six (6) years job related experience with a strong computational background. Experience with SAS, S+/R, MATLAB and other statistical and scripting languages as well as familiarity with Unix operating systems is also required. Understanding of molecular biology methodologies and technologies is also required. Experience with genetic association analysis software is also necessary. This position is subject to obtaining a Public Trust Clearance.PREFERENCES
Desired experience in Perl, Python and other scripting languages. Web Development skills, database development skills. Prior experience in building pipelines, applications and databases for the purpose of whole genome association data collection, analysis and report generation also desirable.
