Program Analyst II - # 97573

BACKGROUND

SAIC-Frederick, Inc., a subsidiary of SAIC, is the Operations and Technical Support Contractor for the National Cancer Institute at Frederick (NCI-Frederick) a federally funded research and development center. SAIC-Frederick, Inc. is one of four related NCI contracts on-site and serves as the infrastructure support for the entire center. The contract is the largest single research contract awarded by the Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) and it is the department's only Government-owned, contractor-operated facility contract.

SAIC- Frederick has an exciting opportunity for a Program Analyst II, in Gaithersburg, Maryland. This position will be tasked with analysis of whole genome association study data and other types of bioinformatics and biostatistical analysis. Interact with scientific staff, identify appropriate analytical protocols based upon scientific needs and execute the analyses and report the results back to the investigators. The analysis will also involve routine manipulation of very large genetic data sets.

REQUIREMENTS

Possession of a Bachelors degree from an accredited college/university in a related field or four (4) years related experience in lieu of degree. Vendor specific training preferred. Foreign educated candidates who have completed part or all of their education outside of the United States must have their foreign education evaluated by an SAIC-approved accrediting organization to assure that it has met the equivalency of the qualifications of degree work in the United States.

In addition to education requirements, a minimum of two (2) years related experience. Scientific programming training and experience using modern computer languages. Experience in genetic data analysis and use of bioinformatics/biostatistics applications and databases. Experience with statistics packages such as SAS, R and Matlab. This position is subject to obtaining a Public Trust Clearance.

PREFERENCES

Unix experience in Linux would be desirable along with a background in working with genomic and genetic data in a linux command line environment. Experience with running applications over a distributed environment also a plus. Database design and usage and web application building skills also a plus.
