WiCell™ is a dynamic independent research institution with a primary research focus in human embryonic stem cells, a rapidly growing research field with tremendous potential to affect our understanding of basic human biology, improve drug development, and potentially improve human health.
The WiCell™ Research Institute has locations adjacent to the University of Wisconsin-Madison campus and University Research Park in Madison, Wisconsin. We offer a competitive salary and an excellent benefit package. Please view http://www.wicell.org for more information.RESPONSIBILITIES
The Research Specialist-Genomics serves as part of the Bioinformatics Group at WiCell™ and will perform wet lab work assisting scientists researching the biology of human embryonic stem cells. Along with other projects, the successful candidate will utilize cutting edge sequencing technologies and other techniques to help scientists elucidate the roles of coding and non-coding RNAs in human embryonic stem cells. General duties include but are not limited to: the culture of human Embryonic Stem (hES) cells, DNA and RNA isolation, separation and labeling various RNA fractions, and performing northerns and westerns. This position requires working closely with the Assistant Scientist-Genomics in carrying out the aforementioned tasks, and in the development of novel protocols as necessary.REQUIREMENTS
A Bachelor’s degree in biological sciences is required with strong molecular biology experience. Previous experience in culturing human embryonic stem cells is not required; however, experience in sterile cell culture techniques and various hybridization based techniques is desired.
